Academic journal publishing – a systematic analysis

This research proposal is aiming to develop an interdisciplinary
approach and inquiry into not only the economic factors but also
social and structural context within which academic journals exist.
The developed theoretical model identifies main building blocks of academic journals publishing system and search for links between them. How does the organization of academia with its tenure and promotion system, academic community, academic journal value chain and content and journal market are interrelated - is the leading research question of this work. So far all this elements has been identified in the research and inquired as separate areas. This research proposal aims to link the identified elements ("building blocks") into one model and answer the research questions using the interdisciplinary approach. |
