Abstract (De)
The analysis of economic and social activity using satellite-based remote sensing data is a domain-relevant methodology for strategic management research and practice. Although this free open-access data source is increasingly entering other fields, it remains under-utilized in management research. We argue that satellite-based remote sensing data is a tool that can be used to investigate many important questions in the field of strategic management. Our interdisciplinary research team is at the forefront of bringing remote sensing analysis to the field of management studies through academic publications, software library development, and community outreach activities. This IMR session outlines currently available satellite data sources, provide examples of their use, and discuss their strengths and weaknesses.
