Abstract | This review is part of the Global Informality Paper Series and outlines the current state of the practitioner literature on slum upgrading programs. Given the scope of such undertaking, three different papers have been developed. This paper discusses important aspects required for the more detailed debate reproduced in the two other papers, one reviewing the international experience on slum upgrading programs, the other on the national and citywide approaches. |
