Abstract
This conceptual paper develops propositions about the effect of involvement on the benefit appropriation across memberships in multi-partner alliances (MPAs). The phenomenon of membership in MPAs mainly adresses factors within MPAs. Further studies analyze the competitive dynamics among MPAs. Little is known about firm behavior across MPAs. We advance theory by introducing inter-MPA aspects which influence the relationship of involvement and value appropriation. We propose that ceteris paribus in complementary MPAs, a high involvement in the MPAs will enable higher overall benefit appropriation then across competitive MPAs.
