KMU-HSG: by and for SMEs
The significance of SMEs was recognised early on at the HSG. More than six decades ago, in 1946, the Swiss Research Institute for Small Business and Entrepreneurship was established, which is the only institute at this level which focuses exclusively on SME research.
SMEs, Family Business and Entrepreneurship – these three pillars constitute the basis for our activities. The daily dialogue and exchange with entrepreneurs and executives from SMEs spurs us on to generate and pass on knowledge about and within SMEs. By linking our four fields of activities, namely
- executive education for entrepreneurs and managers from SMEs,
- consultancy and services for SMEs,
- relevant and well-founded research on SMEs, and
- undergraduate and post-graduate education at the University of St.Gallen,
we have our finger on the pulse of time and acquire valuable findings at first hand.
1946 - 1975: Prof. Dr. Alfred Gutersohn
1975 - April 2002: Prof. Dr. Hans Jobst Pleitner
Since April 2002: Prof. Dr. Urs Fueglistaller,
