Microeconometric Evaluation of the Active Labour Market Policy in Switzerland

Michael Lechner & Michael Gerfin

abstract In the recent past considerable programmes of active labour market policy were introduced in Switzerland. Using and extending the microeconometric evaluation framework we will try to understand whether participants benefited from participation in the various types of programmes. In the final stage of the project we should be able to include all Swiss unemployed with all the information from their unemployment and social security records available into the concluding evaluation.
A new project will investigate the influence of caseworker characteristics and unemployment office management on the effectiveness of active labour market policies.
