Responsible Leadership : An Obligation to Dialogue

fulltext etc. no fulltext attached
abstract An active involvement of leaders in the public discourse about shared values and the common good is seen as decisive element of responsible leadership. In this paper we first develop a framework to structure such a dialogue. Based on the existing pyramid of corporate social responsibility (Carroll, 1979, 1991), we systematically link basic human needs as the reference point for responsible behavior. As a result, we propose a new pyramid as heuristic for individual decision making as well as a tool for structuring dialogue between executives and the broader public. Secondly, we illustrate the application of such a tool by reporting about a recent initiative in Switzerland both in terms of preliminary qualitative and quantitative results
