Aviation Research Center Switzerland - Future Aviation in Switzerland

There is an ongoing discussion about competitiveness and factors used to measure and compare competitiveness of airports and the air transport industry as whole. The question raised addresses whether the competitiveness of the Swiss air travel system is secured taking into account economic, political, legislative and ecological developments. Therefore, this study will focus on developing a comprehensive model to measure the competitiveness of the Swiss air travel system. To assess its development, impact factors will be assessed and evaluated with experts to identify whether Switzerland’s air travel will be competitive enough in the future. The study will apply the model in different future scenarios and raise questions on certain impacts and decisions to be made. The expected result will consist conclusions with respect to the impact of infrastructure on the aviation system of Switzerland as a whole.
