As the significance of Enterprise Architecture (EA) has rapidly grown over the last decades, its strategic importance for sustainable competitive advantage has not been clearly ascertained. Furthermore the business value returned by EA hasn't been systematically analyzed or quantified. For these reason we critically discus in this paper the basic principles of EA as a strategic resource for generating sustainable competitive advantages for an enterprise and its stakeholder. These fundamentals lead us toward an integrated approach to define strategies for gaining sustainable profit and growth from EA.
