Abstract
In the last decade, Italy has undergone considerable governance reforms. Recent amendments of the commercial law and the introduction and update of a code of best
practice significantly contributed to a major change of the Italian governance system. In addition, financial markets and corporate law reforms improved the efficiency of the Stock Exchange and created an environment that favours institutional investors' activism. This article adresses these reforms and discusses major challenges.
