Abstract
Over the years, the field of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) has grown and expanded its scope to influence many diverse domains. As the premier venue for HCI research, the ACM Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems (CHI) has played a pivotal role with over 11,000 full papers published and nearly one million citations collectively accrued and regularly accessed by all computing science disciplines who have access to the ACM digital library. Throughout HCI's evolution, specific areas—such as usability, interaction design, accessibility, and user-centred design methodologies have had a demonstrable and sustained impact, succeeding in the overall goal of improving human experiences with technology.
This panel will engage the CHI community in critically reflecting on the evolving meaning of impact in HCI in the face of new technological landscapes.
