Abstract
While capitalism has spurred economic growth and lifted millions out of poverty, major challenges such as poverty or a lack of basic medical care remain unsolved in many parts of the world. Even worse, the current implementation of capitalism
does not only leave urgent problems unsolved but threatens the social and ecological stability of the world. Social entrepreneurship, the combination of pursuing a social mission and applying entrepreneurial creativity, is for sure no cure-it-all, but it might help rethinking the current way we do business. The article discusses how social entrepreneurship induces changes on a firm, institutional, and societal level.
