Abstract
This text challenges the prevailing myth that effective personal knowledge management (PKM) requires a sophisticated system. Drawing on insights from Siegel (2024b) and supported by cognitive science perspectives (Hutchins, 2000; Paul, 2021), it argues that individuals already possess foundational PKM systems through everyday tools and practices. Offering practical advice, I advocate for starting with simple tools, being intentional with feature use, and focusing on PKM principles over specific systems. This approach supports organic growth and sustainability in knowledge management, countering the notion that sophistication is mandatory for effectiveness.
