Abstract
This papers aims at analyzing the demand driver for product services systems (PSS) within the tooling and die industry. As literature remains silent on empirical evidence for PSS driver, we built a regression model based on 5 different demand trigger: failure costs, preventive maintenance, service requirements, tool complexity and business process complexity. Starting with a brief theoretical framework to introduce the concept of product service systems, we furthermore analyze a quantitative survey among customers of toolmakers about their particular requirements concerning product service. The results of the regression model underline the strong influence of business process complexity and service requirements on PSS demand.
