2023-04-132023-04-13https://www.alexandria.unisg.ch/handle/20.500.14171/59141Given the increase in human mobility within a enlarged European Union and the growing interdependence of the global economy, European corporations face increasingly challenges in successful dealing with their diverse workforces inside and outside Europe. The research objective of our EST "Management of National Diversity" (MONDE) is to improve the understanding of how diversity in organisational groups affects team process and outcomes. Specifically, the research training area investigates human diversity in terms of nationality at various organisational levels (top management boards, task forces, project teams) and its effects on group dynamics and organisational outcomes. We will use an interdisciplinary research approach that spans the international management, strategic management, and other social science fields. We will collect demographic data through large-scale survey inquiry and archival databases. Rigorous analytical techniques will be applied to test research hypotheses. In addition, we will study team processes by both employing quantitative technique and conducting case study research. In conclusion, method triangulation is used to explore the subject matter "management of national diversity' in a comprehensive and practitioner-relevant way. Concerning early-stage researchers, the training program is aimed to provide systematic and fellow-specific training. First, a structured PhD program provides the ESRs with the fundamental knowledge for conducting scientific research, both method-wise and content-wise. Second, the ESRs will apply the methodologies and research skills they have learned in real projects: in other words, "learning by doing." Third, the ESRs can customise their complementary skills training according to their individual needs (e.g., presentation skills, writing skills). Overall, our training is intended to equip the participants with three requisite competencies for future academic careers: concept training, method training, and communication training. Early-stage researchers will be joining other guest-students at the University of St. Gallen from all over the world; Europe, North- and South-America, Asia and Australia. Thus, the training participants will experience and learn to work in multinational research teams, thereby not only doing research on team internationalisation but simultaneously "living it."applied research project
