Development of an Integrated DSS for optimal power production and enterprise strategy.

In cooperation with an Austrian engineering and consulting company, an Integrated Decision Support System for the optimal power production and efficient enterprise strategie has been developed and implemented. The client, a major hydro power producer in Central America, was faced with demanding challenges in the course of a growing market liberalization. By the means of the DSS developed, the client has been placed in a position to act successfully in a situation of growing uncertainties (system load, spot market prices) and a fierce oligilopistic competition. The design of adequate electricity contracts and a fair pricing scheme in the coalescing regional market in Central America is only one of the ongoing tasks.

Hydro Reservoir Management and Unit Commitment on the basis of a Stochastic Annual Planning Model and a Stochastic Short Term Planning Model, respectively. Development of Offer Pricing Strategies for the electricity spot market in El Salvador. Development of Forecasting Methods of natural inflows, electric load and spot market prices. Integration of all functional modules into a software system with unified GUI, database connection and Web-interfaces.
