This paper details a variety of contemporary cosmopolitan approaches which tend to go beyond the mainstream axes of cosmopolitanism. Therefore, this paper serves two functions: First, I lay out a variety of alternative cosmopolitan approaches. I engage with three alterna-tives, which I call cultural, constitutional and radical-democratic cosmopolitanism. Second, this paper makes the claim plausible that even the varieties of cultural, constitutional, and demo-cratic cosmopolitanism are not enough to develop a social account of cosmopolitanism. This desideratum will be sketched with an alternative Hegelian account of cosmopolitanism. With the variety of cosmopolitan approaches presented in this chapter a more democratically ac-tive account of cosmopolitanism is possible.
