Abstract
This conceptual paper develops propositions about the effect of involvement on the benefit appropriation from memberships in multi-partner alliances (MPAs). We contribute to the research on multi-partner alliances within MPAs. We advance theory by introducing aspects which moderate the relationship of involvement and value appropriation. We argue that the positive impact of involvement is moderated by the maturity of the MPA and the success of the MPA. Further, we argue that in explorative MPAs high involvement allows for higher benefit appropriation than in exploitative MPAs. These considerations offer new insights into the complex dynamics of involvement across MPAs.
