Spring / Summer semesters of 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011:
Tutorial 'Übung im IMT-Management'
The course teaches key concepts of innovation management, product management and entrepreneurship to undergraduate students (IMT stands for innovation and technology management). I have taught this course for four years and developed Excel-supported quantitative worked examples to improve its didactic efficiency. Recent evaluations are attached.
TEACHING AT THE GRADUATE LEVEL
Fall / Winter semesters of 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011:
Seminar 'Global R&D Management'
I have been organizing and holding this seminar for the past four years for graduate students. Each year the seminar discusses a key area of international R&D management (past course topics were global organization of innovation, open innovation, intellectual property management, and international entrepreneurship). Students are organized in groups, provided with relevant research material and expected to elaborate on a particular aspect of the topic by comparing and contrasting the academic literature with either self-collected quantitative data or self-planned qualitative field studies of firms. They write a paper and present their work before all seminar participants. I coach all students throughout the seminar to develop their analytical and presentation skills. Recent evaluations are attached.
TEACHING AT THE DOCTORAL LEVEL
I have co-designed a doctoral seminar that emphasizes the development of publication skills, elaborating on key elements of the review process and on the editorial literature of 'how to get published'. Since its introduction in 2009 the seminar has been highly successful; it is taught jointly by Professors Foray, Gassmann and von Krogh at both the University of Lausanne, the ETH Zurich, and the University of St. Gallen.
