Item type:Publication, Balancing Agility and Resilience in Pharmaceutical Supply Chains: The Impact of Disruptive Changes and Innovations(StGallen Integrated imt Business School AG, 2024-07-01); ; Christopher PawlakThis report, authored by Christian Abegglen, Christopher Pawlak, and Leon Zacharias, investigates the balance between agility and resilience in pharmaceutical supply chains amidst these changes. The study focuses on how pharmaceutical companies can adapt their operational capabilities to remain competitive in a volatile environment. Utilizing a mixed-method survey conducted during the Pharmap 2024 conference in Amsterdam, the research captures insights from industry experts. Findings indicate that a combination of agility and resilience is crucial for navigating disruptions. Agility enables rapid adaptation to market changes, while resilience ensures long-term sustainability by withstanding and recovering from significant disruptions. The report embeds these findings into the St. Gallen Management Concept, offering a holistic approach to align strategies with operational capabilities and cultural readiness. The implications suggest that pharmaceutical companies should foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation, integrate advanced technologies, and enhance strategic initiatives to maintain stability and competitiveness.Type:journal articleJournal:St. Gallen Research Report - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Konsortialstudie: Konzepte der Automobillogistik der ZukunftThe consortium study "Concepts of Automotive Logistics of the Future" analyzes the changes and trends affecting the automotive industry and its inbound logistics as well as their impact on logistics processes and structures. Taking these influencing factors into consideration, the logistics concepts of the automotive industry are critically examined in order to develop future logistics concepts based on these findings. Future scenarios were calculated in the study; together with the change drivers, these form the basis for the development of future scenarios. In total, nine future concepts were developed (Car Chain Visibility, FutureWOW, OFTO, Pizza Run, Trailer Drive, Urban Future, Green Industry Cluster, FlexJIS, Energy Hubs). For the implementation of the future concepts, special enablers have to be addressed, which influence the effectiveness of the concepts: Actively attract and retain skilled workers, create a modern and intelligent parking management system, and adapt tender management. The automotive inbound logistics concepts of tomorrow thus range from relevant trends as impulse generators to enablers for the implementation of the concepts.Type:journal articleVolume:1. Item type:Publication, Logistikmarktstudie Schweiz 01-2025: Logistikmarktentwicklung, Top100, Online-Handel mit Fernost, CybersecurityThe first issue of the Swiss Logistics Market Study in 2025 offers a comprehensive analysis of recent developments in the Swiss logistics market. In addition to the overall market analysis with updated figures and forecasts, the Top100 as an overview of the 100 largest logistics service providers in Switzerland, the focus is on two key topics: firstly, the growing influence of Asian online platforms: Swiss online trade is facing increasing crowding out by Asian platforms such as Temu and Shein. The study examines the economic, sustainable and logistical impact of these developments and how Swiss retailers can hold their own against the competition. Secondly, cyber threats in the logistics sector are examined as a further in-depth topic: Increasing digitalization also increases the risk of cyber attacks. Logistics companies in particular are the focus of cyber criminals. The study sheds light on the prevention and response measures that companies can take to protect themselves and their customers.Type:book - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Logistikmarktstudie Schweiz 03-2024: Logistikstandort Schweiz, Künstliche Intelligenz, ZollgesetzgebungThe third issue of the Swiss Logistics Market Study in 2024 focuses on the topics of artificial intelligence, customs legislation and the logistics location Switzerland. The study provides an insight into the strengths and challenges of Switzerland as a logistics location. The study analyses the competitiveness of the Swiss logistics sector in comparison to neighbouring countries based on the logistics performance index. Current bottlenecks are highlighted and an outlook on future developments is provided. One focus of the issue is on the transformative role of artificial intelligence in logistics. The study shows how AI technologies are driving logistics forward and in which areas they can be applied effectively. Both the potential and the challenges are analysed. The study also looks at upcoming changes in customs regulations that are important for Switzerland as a non-EU member state providing an overview of important developments that could affect the industry in the near future.Type:book - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Logistikmarktstudie Schweiz 02-2024: Trends, Nachhaltigkeit, Geopolitische Krisen, AutomatisierungThe second issue of the Swiss Logistics Market Study in 2024 focuses on trends, sustainability, geopolitical crises and automation in the Swiss logistics market. The trend radar illustrates the current technological, social and economic trends in the Swiss logistics market and their dynamics. The focus of the analysis of developments in the freight transport market is on determining the sustainability of logistics. In addition, mode-specific developments in road, rail, air and shipping are examined in order to describe the current market situation. Besides the recurring static topics, the issue includes two dynamic topics, geopolitical crises and automation: the complexity along global trade routes is constantly increasing due to global crises. Established flows of goods have had to be adapted within a very short space of time, which is now leading to new challenges. Delays and cost increases in supply chains are the logical consequence. In this issue, we also explore the question of how much digitalisation actually makes sense. Could Switzerland be described as an Eldorado for automation in warehouse logistics? Issue 02-2024 of the Swiss Logistics Market Study provides answers to these and further questions.Type:book - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Location profiling to enable more efficient logistics processesThis white paper explores the concept of "Location Profiling" as a critical instrument for enhancing logistics efficiency. In an era of increasing digitalisation and interconnectedness, the availability of precise and reliable location data is critical for the optimisation of logistics processes, the reduction of costs, and the facilitation of strategic decision-making. The paper sets out to investigate the challenges that businesses encounter when managing location data. Such challenges include data inconsistencies, outdated information, and integration issues. It introduces innovative solutions and technologies that enable real-time processing and dynamic updates of location information. The concept of Location Profiling, which extends beyond basic geographical data to encompass detailed infrastructural and operational insights, is presented as a strategic resource for enhancing logistics operations. The use cases provided offer a practical illustration of the ways in which Location Profiling can support network planning, route optimisation, asset management and autonomous driving. The paper's central theme is the importance of integrating robust location data systems into business operations to foster innovation, efficiency, and long-term competitiveness in logistics.Type:work report
