We propose a comprehensive analysis of efficiency and productivity in the Swiss insurance industry, a market that has been significantly restructured in recent years. Using data envelopment analysis (DEA) and covering the time period of 1997 to 2010, we analyze four key economic aspects discussed in academia and practice, reaching from the determinants of productivity to M&A.
