Description
My PhD project is concerned with the ways Swiss Identity is constituted by the Swiss Federal Administration as an institutional object. Drawing on a foucauldian conceptualization of the production of knowledge in institutions of power, I propose an analysis of the emergence of Swiss Identity within the Swiss Federal Administration by particularly focusing on moments of rupture in which established definitions of Swiss Identity are challenged and transformed. This kind of proceeding allows the production of knowledge about a) the processes of constitution of Swiss Identity as an institutional object, b) about the political, economical and ideological interests and power relations within the Swiss Federal Administration constraining these processes c) and finally, about the complex relations between the Swiss Federal Administration and other private actors, respectively the transformations of the Swiss Federal Administration and its role in the last century.
