Description
In political theory, economic practices are often viewed as providing the material condition for politics, or - at least to some extent - as being conditioned by politics. But they are not considered to be a constitutive element of political intercourse. This is unfortunate, I believe, because economic practices play an increasingly important role in the political process of configuring society's regulative and normative institutions. Economic practices such as labour, investment, or production - so the thesis of this project - can function as alternative vehicles for political action, and must therefore not be neglected when reflecting, for instance, about opportunities for democratic self-rule.
