Abstract (De)
We propose a new theoretical framework to study the editing phase in the decision-making process. Our model combines hedonic editing with the assumption that some editing rules are too demanding and thus unfeasible for some decision makers. To capture how constrained decision makers are, we introduce the notion of willingness to pay for editing, which decreases when the set of feasible editing rules becomes larger. An experiment in the context of repeated choices shows that the willingness to pay for segregation is zero, while it is strictly positive for aggregation. Moreover, the willingness to pay for editing is generally higher for slightly sophisticated decision makers compared to highly sophisticated decision makers.
