Abstract
Presentation in HSG Open Lecture Series "Kulturelle Schlüsselwörter – Hot Words for Hot Spots Zugänge zum Verständnis von Kulturen"
This talk will provide a reassessment of transculture and hotspots as theoretical concepts that have provided innovative turns to the disciplines in which they are embedded: cultural studies and language studies. We will address how such concepts and their associated terminology are themselves affected by the conditions they seek to describe. Even while transculture displaces interculture and hotwords become the new keywords, their respective meanings continue to proliferate and lose specificity. However, they cannot do otherwise.
