Abstract
The 2024 research by the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) group at the University of St. Gallen advances the mission to create data-driven, user-centred interfaces that support meaningful decision-making. This work explores key themes in navigation technology’s social impact, virtual reality (VR) for emotional well-being, and foldable and haptic device interfaces, highlighting the group’s focus on adaptable, accessible technology aligned with human needs. Organised into three themes—GeoHCI and Spatial Interaction, VR for Well-being, and Haptic Interface Design—this year’s studies leverage interdisciplinary methods across AI, computer graphics, and cognitive psychology to empower users in diverse contexts, from daily tasks to extreme environments.
