Abstract
A growing impact investing market can catalyse a paradigm shift in global finance and redefine the role of capital in addressing global challenges and sustainable development. However, despite significant expansion, impact investing remains a niche market compared to traditional investment sectors. This structured literature review analyses existing academic literature on the influential factors for scalability in impact investing, inductively creating a conceptual framework to understand the factors influencing its growth potential. The findings reveal seven major influential factors: 1) ecosystem development and infrastructure, 2) impact measurement and standards, 3) capacity building and expertise, 4) regulatory and policy framework, 5) investment opportunities, 6) transparency and information, 7) investor engagement & participation. Recognizing the challenges of scaling remains a critical factor as the facilitation of impact investments is only meaningful when it effectively enhances social benefits.
