Abstract
This volume is the first to present a comprehensive overview of the central theories of German-language education/educational science and its sub-disciplines. Experts offer a comprehensible presentation of the historical and current theories of basic general and school educational concepts (Erziehung, Bildung, Unterricht, teaching and learning, counselling, school, educational media) as well as important sub-disciplines (elementary education, social education, organizational education, vocational education and media education, adult education) and discuss the international comparability of these theories.
The systematic presentation presented here helps educators at universities and colleges as well as in professional practice to orientate themselves in the subject and develop a professional self-image. In addition, both lecturers in educational science and representatives of adjacent disciplines can obtain comprehensive information about the body of educational theory.

Abstract (De)
Dieser Band präsentiert erstmals zentrale Theorien der deutschsprachigen Pädagogik/Erziehungswissenschaft und ihrer Teildisziplinen in einem Gesamtüberblick. Expert:innen bieten eine verständliche Darstellung der historischen und aktuellen Theorien allgemein- und schul-pädagogischer Grundbegriffe (Erziehung, Bildung, Unterricht, Lehren und Lernen, Beratung, Schule, Bildungsmedien) sowie wichtiger Teildisziplinen (Elementar-, Sozial-, Organisations-, Berufs- und Medienpädagogik, Erwachsenenbildung) und diskutieren die internationale Vergleichbarkeit dieser Theorien.
Die hier vorgelegte systematische Darstellung hilft Pädagog:innen an Universitäten und Hochschulen sowie in der Berufspraxis dabei, sich im Fach zu orientieren und ein professionelles Selbstverständnis zu entwickeln. Zudem können sich sowohl Dozierende der Erziehungswissenschaft als auch Vertreter:innen von Nachbardisziplinen umfassend über den pädagogischen Theoriebestand informieren.
