Abstract
Questions and thoughts about the future of our world. ‘How can we create a livable world?’ – this is the question Convoco is asking in its 20th anniversary year. Reflections on the common good, equality, freedom, strategies and uncertainties flow together in a discursive manner. What makes a world worth living in? Peace, a healthy environment and technology that serves humanity – for Convoco, these three areas form the basis for a livable world. But how can this be achieved? History teaches us that it is easier to want to change the world than to actually turn these ideas into reality. Questions such as ‘What is the future of democracy?’, ‘What security policy challenges does Europe face?’, ‘How can we bring the economy and climate protection together?’ and ‘What role does regulation play in the future of technology?’ are at the heart of the discourse. Society must learn to live according to the universal laws of nature. It is the role of science to point these out. With contributions from Clemens Fuest, Birke Häcker, Stefan Korioth, Martin Korte, Christine Langenfeld, Hans-Dieter Lucas, Timo Meynhardt, Monika Schnitzer, Moritz Schularick, Gernot Wagner, Claudia Wiesner and others. The Convoco Foundation One of Convoco's maxims is to take responsibility for tomorrow today. Convoco wants to raise awareness of the constantly changing modern world and the challenges it poses for society. Convoco offers platforms where questions about future coexistence in an increasingly networked world can be discussed.
