Abstract
Robotic technologies offer benefits by increasing autonomy, but consumers often view this as a zero-sum game, where technology’s gain limits their own perceived autonomy. Our research reveals how this mindset hinders adoption and suggests two strategies to mitigate it: unfixing autonomy and aligning robot with human goals.
