Abstract
This methodological paper sheds light on the use of maps as interviewing devices. The application example given is that of a regional innovation ecosystem in Colombia. A simplified, printed city map was employed to elicit innovation ecosystem patterns and success factors from experts. The paper shows the benefits, usage modes and results of conducting qualitative interviews with the help of cartographic representations. It furthermore shows an example of how such results can be aggregated graphically.
