Abstract
Agriculture has many diverse actors, each with a specific role and interest in the business. Today’s smart and data-driven agricultural landscape requires proactive participation of these actors in order to follow suit with the ever-growing importance of innovation, digitalization and sustainability needs of the sector. This study closely examines agricultural data ecosystems by identifying key stakeholders, their roles, the technologies they employ, and the business models currently in use across the sector. Through a systematic review of 48 studies, we identified 61 distinct ecosystem actors, 85 data-driven technologies, and 61 business models. This work provides the first comprehensive categorization of these components within the broader agricultural domain and offers new insights into the relationships between actors and the technologies they adopt. The findings underline the need for orchestration across diverse technologies in data-driven agriculture and establish a foundation for both practitioners and future research in this area.
