Abstract
This paper analyzes Operational Excellence Initiatives (OEI) and its Key Influencing Factors (KIF) for sustainable implementation in the context of the pharmaceutical industry. While the interactions between various practices and operational performance had been previously investigated, there are evidences in the literature that site specific KIFs play underestimated roles. To address this issue, 9 different manufacturing sites of one company, facing the same industry challenges and OEI launches, had been investigated to get an in-depth understanding of KIFs for the implementation process on plant level. Our findings revealed 8 different KIFs and a pattern for successful implementation.
