Abstract (De)
This study compares the persistence and start-up speed of intrapreneurs and entrepreneurs in creating new ventures. Against the theoretical backdrop of differences in initial resource endowments, imprinting effects, and embeddedness, we develop testable hypotheses about the persistence of both venturing groups. Relatedly, we argue for differences in speed to market based on distinct needs to legitimize quickly and distinct bureaucratic drawbacks. We find that intrapreneurs, compared to entrepreneurs are more likely to persist with their efforts in the first 39 months of nascent venture development. There is no evidence that one group is faster in bringing their nascent venture to market. We discuss the implications of our findings for scholars and practitioners.
