Abstract
The handbook is based on the results of a two-year project on external patent exploitation funded by the Swiss Commission for Technology and Innovation (CTI). The project was conducted by the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St.Gallen in close cooperation with five industry partners, namely BGW AG, Cytos Biotechnology AG, F. Hoffmann-La Roche Ltd., Novartis Pharma AG, and Sika Technology AG. In addition, the project profited from fruitful inputs of Bayer Innovation, IBM, IPEG Consultancy, Nestlé, Siemens, and Steinbeis TIB. We would like to thank everybody who contributed to the project, especially our industry partners and the CTI who made this successful project possible.
