Abstract (De)
Gendermainstreaming characterizes the current era
of institutionalization of a genderperspective in (development)
politics. The article argues that on the one
hand a kind of gender fatigue has taken place since
the implementation of gendermainstreaming and
that gendermainstreaming tools in development have
still not been implemented in an effective way. On the
other hand, theoretical debates in gender studies
about women and sex/gender have deconstructed the
categories. This could be understood as a loss of our
research object, but it also could open a space for new
promising approaches such as intersectionality which
analyses the interactions of categories generating
differences and disequalities. In development practice
gendermainstreaming was focussed again mainly
on women. An explicit focus on the role of men and
masculinities in development is still in the very beginnings.
In development research gendermainstreaming
is even considerably less present. A systematic
integration of gender as a category of analysis in current
research approaches has still to be done.
