Abstract (De)
In my office, a whiteboard and a flipchart stand side-by-side in silent correspondence. They are separated by a bookcase, a door, and a window onto the hallway, which according to those responsible for the administration of the architectural infrastructure was intended to express our university’s “institutional transparency.” Bookcase, door, window—these are an organization’s spatial realities. Like the whiteboard and the flipchart, they are not easy to transport and cannot be turned into data without an additional step (e.g., a smartphone photo). Whenever guests come to my office, they immediately acquire a disconcerted look upon catching sight of these seemingly obsolete fixtures, the massive media of storage and presentation flanking the entrance to my office. “Honestly, who still writes on paper anymore,” their eyes seem to say, “or on any surface that isn’t a smartboard?”
