Item type:Publication, Navigating AI Transformation: Human Resource Development Strategies for Corporate LearningArtificial Intelligence (AI) has revolutionised knowledge work through generative AI like ChatGPT, impacting coordination, creativity, and problem-solving. As AI adoption accelerates, understanding its implications for Human Resource Development (HRD) becomes crucial. This paper introduces a conceptual framework for HRD strategies in AI transformation, addressing the dearth of research in this area. Utilising a case study approach, we distinguish five strategies: Acceleration, Culture-driven Transformation, Data-Driven Agility, Personalized Learning, and Immersive, emotional Learning at the workplace. Each strategy caters to distinct organisational needs. Challenges include balancing rapid upskilling, managing cultural shifts, ensuring data quality, promoting self-directed learning, and implementing immersive technologies. The framework offers insights for organisations navigating AI-induced transformations in HRD practices. Further research and refinement are essential as AI technology evolves.Type:journal articleJournal:International Journal of Advanced Corporate Learning (iJAC)Volume:17Issue:4 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Human Resource Development (HRD) Professionals and generative Artificial Intelligence: A Qualitative Study of HRD professionals(2024)Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI), exemplified by models like ChatGPT and Gemini (formerly known as Bard), has emerged as a transformative force, impacting various fields. This paper investigates the integration of GenAI into Human Resource Development (HRD). While GenAI applications in recruitment and performance management have generated attention, the role of GenAI in HRD still needs to be explored. Furthermore, the absence of comprehensive research on AI in HRD raises concerns about the preparedness of HRD professionals to navigate the complexities of an AI-driven landscape. This paper addresses the gap by providing insights into how HRD professionals foster their development in the era of generative artificial intelligence. The study employs an explorative approach, using semi-structured interviews analysed through Gioia's qualitative research methodology. The findings reveal challenges and opportunities HRD professionals encountered by HRD professionals when integrating GenAI into their practices. The paper concludes by discussing implications, suggesting avenues for further exploration, and providing recommendations for HRD practitioners.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Analysing the AI transformation in HRD literature and practice(2023)Faced with the scale and speed of AI transformation, there is an urgent need to develop the necessary workforce skills. Thus, human resource development (HRD) faces the challenge of enabling workforce skills development to cope with the digital transformation of business processes and job profiles. However, a clear picture of what ‘digital transformation’ driven by AI means for HRD is still missing. Therefore, in this paper, a literature review aims to sketch out the nature of the AI transformation in HRD and identify major concepts or debates to understand how the AI transformation impacts HRD. In addition, this paper analyses busi-ness cases in workforce development to provide a holistic and evidence-based picture of cur-rent HRD practices that focus on AI transformation. The study concludes that AI technology can enhance HRD practice. However, practitioners must consider the adverse impacts or issues of adopting AI in HRD. Therefore, HRD itself needs to further develop and adapt an augmentation paradigm in which HRD works in a symbiotic interaction with AI technolo-gies.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Type:book section - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
