Item type:Publication, Organizational Learning and the Implementation of AI: Strategic Choices to Build AI-Leveraging Loops(2025-07-28)Drawing on organizational learning theory, this study examines the strategic choices to implement AI within the organizational setting. We do so by adopting a single-case study approach, identifying five substages and activities (examine, enact, embed, evolve & expand) that we group into two aggregate AI-leveraging loops (inner- & outer loop) that reenable the implementation of AI across the firm. This paper proposes a model for organizational learning (OL) that can help organizations implement AI within the organizational setting and transform it into an AI-leveraged organization (AILO). Our findings are complementary to the existing theory and framework on single and double-loop learning and extend the management literature on how to successfully implement AI in the organizational setting.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Artificial Intelligence and Resource Orchestration: Industry Leaders Amid Technological Change(2025-07-28); ; ; Parida, VinitTo stay competitive in the face of artificial intelligence (AI), industry leaders must strategically orchestrate their resources and capabilities. Given the significant uncertainty and costs associated with AI, this study develops a model for how firms can effectively pioneer AI-driven solutions by orchestrating resources within and beyond organizational boundaries. Drawing on a qualitative longitudinal analysis of two global industry leaders, we uncover an iterative resource orchestration process comprising synchronizing, curating, and synergizing of resources. Notably, our findings highlight ‘resource curation’ as a critical mechanism to navigate the high costs and uncertainties of AI. Our findings contributes to the management literature by expanding the understanding of resource orchestration across firm boundaries and providing new insights into the strategic implications of AI.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Conquering the AI kingdom: Strategic positioning within a new competitive landscapeWith the rapid diffusion and widespread adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), businesses worldwide face unprecedented opportunities to reshape their strategies and gain competitive advantage. Amidst this technological shift, understanding why firms differ becomes paramount. This paper explores how firms strategically position themselves in the competitive landscape of AI. Drawing from the competitive dynamics (CD) and the resource-based view (RBV) literature, this paper leverages archival data from the LexisNexis database. It employs machine learning (ML) methods to investigate the underlying strategic actions of the leading AI-centric firms over a longitudinal period (2016-2023). Our findings reveal distinct phases and patterns of actions for positioning in the era of AI. Ultimately, this paper contributes to our understanding of future-oriented strategic positioning.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Pioneering in a New Technological Regime: A Resource Orchestration Perspective on Deriving Value from AI(2023); ; ;Vinit ParidaThis paper explores how firms use resource orchestration (RO) to generate a technological regime advantage, particularly in the context of the advent of artificial intelligence (AI). While previous studies have primarily discussed firms' actions within their boundaries, comparatively little attention has been given to the role that RO activities play beyond the boundaries of the firm. To fill this gap, this paper examines the strategic actions of two large Swedish manufacturing multinationals in the mining and transportation industries in pioneering AI-based autonomous solutions. The qualitative analysis highlights three main strategic actions that incumbents initiate to ultimately generate a technological regime advantage. The findings and framework provide guidance for firms and serve as a foundation for further empirical academic research.Type:conference paper - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publication, Universities in an age of uncertainty: 44 propositions on the future of universities(2023-12-04); ; Higher education is known as one of the "least digitised and most people-intensive economic sectors". [1] While many other industries have been disrupted in their dominant logic of value creation, [2] the education sector has experienced few changes. It continues to pursue its historical ideal of 'educating autonomous individuals' [3]. The world is changing rapidly: Recent geopolitical challenges, social polarization, pandemic-induced disruptions, the exponential growth of knowledge and simultaneously increasing scepticism towards science, as well as evolving work modes in a global economy are indicators of that change. At the same time, new digital technologies such as generative artificial intelligence (AI) highlight the necessity and opportunity for transformation of the entire higher education sector.Type:newspaper articleJournal:Wissenschaftsmagazin 2023 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publication, Case: Future of Universities - Rethinking the Role of Universities(Lemmens Verlags- u.Medienges mbH, 2022); ; ; Preparing is high on the agenda: Universities play a crucial role in preparing the ground for the future. They must prepare their students to be collaborative and, therefore, competitive. This requires new skills and, very importantly, a new mindset. Universities must prepare and educate the next generation for huge global challenges.Type:newspaper articleJournal:Wissenschaftsmanagement - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
